Commitment to accessibility standards
ROR is committed to making sure that our website, our search application, and our technical documentation comply with WCAG 2.2 Level AA accessibility standards. We are also committed to making regular accessibility improvements and to conducting annual accessibility evaluations.
ROR uses the WebAIM WAVE browser extension for Firefox to evaluate compliance levels with accessibility standards. Our goal is to achieve 0 errors and 0 contrast errors and to reduce or eliminate alerts on all major pages.
Please email support@ror.org to report any accessibility issues with ROR content.
Current accessibility status
Website
As of May 2026, the major pages of the ROR website (including all pages in the top-level navigation and all major second-level pages) show 0 errors and 0 contrast errors. Not all individual blog posts and event pages have been audited for accessibility compliance, but new blog posts and event pages are checked for compliance before they are published.

Search application
As of May 2026, the ROR search application (including results lists and individual records) shows 0 errors and 0 contrast errors.

Technical documentation
ROR technical documentation is hosted by the ReadMe third-party service. One of the reasons ROR uses ReadMe is because it has generally excellent compliance with accessibility standards, but ROR cannot address any issues with the ReadMe platform itself. ROR undertakes to ensure that our content on ReadMe is accessible by adding alt text to images and ensuring that structural elements such as headings are present and in the correct order.
As of May 2026, all pages of ROR technical documentation show 1 error and 0 contrast errors. The error is caused by a missing button label for a button that is part of the ReadMe platform. We have reported the error to ReadMe.

Past accessibility evaluations
October 2025
In October 2025, we evaluated our website for compliance with accessibility standards. We found as many as 41 errors and as many as 12 contrast errors on top-level and second-level web pages and corrected these by adjusting our color palette and revising our content and code. Read the ROR website accessibility evaluation from October 2025.
